New Blogging and How to Deal with Stress

Hello everyone!

As you can see, I haven’t been too active on Kaitlin Powell Books because I am balancing being a full-time college student and being a student-athlete. However, I do want to keep writing and publishing my works.

While I haven’t had the time I’ve wanted to finish writing theĀ Soulmates trilogy, I will be using the Blog portion of my website to be able to share my thoughts on a variety of topics. I hope you enjoy!

The first topic that I want to write about is stress. I have all of my finals next week and a midterm tomorrow, so it’s safe to say stress is very common on my campus at the moment. With that being so, I want to share some tips and advice on how to deal with stress in a manageable and healthy way.

  1. The first way to deal with stress would be rest. Everyone needs to be rested, especially the night before your final or deadline. But don’t getĀ too much rest–that probably doesn’t make sense, right? But I’ve learned this the hard way: getting more rest than what your body is used to will actually make you feel more tired. Sleep your normal amount!
  2. Another important thing to remember is to not eat sugary foods. It’s so easy to want to indulge in eating candy or a chocolate bar, but trust me: it’s better to eat foods that will help your brain work faster. Great brain foods include: blueberries, avocado, salmon, broccoli, kale, and spinach. Easy, healthy items that are super easy to find either around the house or in the nearest grocery store.
  3. The third and final thing to help relieve stress is to face whatever is causing you stress. For me, that would be my midterm tomorrow and my two to three finals next week. To deal with my stress, I’m studying. By knowing what I’m doing is beneficial to my cause of stress, it helps diminish it quite a bit. If it’s a deadline or writer’s block, write. Write as much as you can and edit it the next day. It’s important to face your stress head-on and get it done.
