Soulmates Book Cover Final v1.0

Updates!

Hey everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this so I wanted to give you guys an update on the Soulmates series. While I finished the final draft of Soulmates over a month ago, I’m having two of my closest friends read it over and give me feedback on it.

I’ve officially started Bond, the second book in the series. I am about to finish Chapter One and can’t believe that the writing process is so much easier this time. Comes with experience, I guess.

The entire second book already has an outline for the twenty chapters, unlike when Soulmates was written. I wrote the first book without the detailed outline I have set for Bond, which is probably why it took so long. I’m estimating that Bond will be finished before I start my sophomore year of college.

On the topic of publishing Soulmates, I’m hoping to do it at the end of July or the beginning of August! Once my editors are done reading it, I will edit anything I need to and get started on the publishing progress immediately. Thank you all for being so patient and understanding!

For the website, I will definitely be more active. The majority of my hiatus is over, so I will be posting more often.

Love you all,

Kaitlin

Hiatus

Hey guys! Due to it being my senior year and I am graduating in a week, I will be going on a small break for everything Soulmates related. I will be partaking in final exams, senior activities, and traveling around the world. Soulmates is scheduled to be published sometime this summer, so please keep an eye out for a specific date!

See you all again soon!

Music: Arthur and Melanie

Music is such a huge part of my working process that I just have to share with everyone what I listen to in order to get in the right frame of mind for each set of characters! For Arthur and Melanie, it was a very different relationship than that of the other Soulmates. There is a more loving and nurturing base to their love, not as much trust and passion as that of Marciella and Damon.

Their music is softer and full of love, instead of sudden and moving music like the others. It was almost hard, actually, to find music that could reflect how I see the relationship between Arthur and Melanie. Here they are:

  • Bleeding Out — Imagine Dragons
  • Breathe Me — Sia
  • Falling In Love At a Coffee Shop — Landon Pigg
  • Friend, Please — Twenty One Pilots
  • Say Something — A Great Big World
  • Stay With Me — Sam Smith
  • Somewhere Only We Know — Lily Allen
  • All We Do — Oh Wonder
  • Sinking Ship — Seafret
  • Unsteady — X Ambassadors

Music: Action in Soulmates

Like my last post said, I love listening to music while I write. In fact, I’m doing it right now! I find it super relaxing and helps describe what I envision in my mind.

Anyways, there is a large amount of action in Soulmates. While writing these scenes, I felt that to get the mood of whatever was happening right, I had to listen to music that reflected it. So I made a list of the music I listened to the most while writing the intense sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat parts:

  • American Trash — Innerpartysystem
  • I’m So Sorry — Imagine Dragons
  • Everybody Wants to Rule the World — Lorde
  • Railroad Track — Willy Moon
  • Run — AWOLNATION
  • I’d Love to Change the World — Jetta
  • Heart of Courage — Thomas Bergersen
  • Ash — Secession Studios
  • Bordoneo y 900 — Juan José Mosalini

Music: Marciella and Damon

I’m a huge fan of music. I love listening to it for every occasion and moment possible. Of course, I have music designated for when I was writing Soulmates. I even made specific music for each relationship and character on my iTunes!

When writing the relationship between Marciella and Damon, there is a variety of music. There had to be music for the beginning, when they were unfamiliar with each other, and how it blossomed into what it did. In fact, these are all the songs from my playlist for Marciella and Damon:

  • Come a Little Closer — Cage the Elephant
  • Between the Raindrops — Lifehouse
  • Relax My Beloved — Alex Clare
  • Crazy In Love (2014 Remix) — Beyoncé
  • Say Something — A Great Big World
  • A Thousand Years — Matt McAndrew
  • Warriors — Imagine Dragons
  • Les Champs-Elysées– Joe Dassin
